Our trustees
Grant Duncan (Chair)
When I changed career from manufacturing to public services some
13 years ago one of my motivations was to do things that can make a
difference for the public good. It still is. Being a trustee of
Cartrefi is part of that ambition. I try to help as part of the
team in making sense of the wider challenges we all face and the
decisions we make, management and trustees together, to keep
Cartrefi sustainable for all those communities who depend on our
success and values. I believe a key part of our role is helping
create a level playing field so that everyone has equality of
access to opportunities. The chorus of one of my favourite song's
pretty much says it all for me: It's not just what you're born
with, it's what you choose to be; it's not how big your share is,
but how much you can share...it's not just what you've been given,
it's what you do with what you've got". Here's one version http://youtu.be/8mmflP04lBI
It's a privilege to be a part of the work Cartrefi is doing to help
people live independent lives and helping people create
opportunities and do things they dream of.
I also work with Cartrefi as part of my own development. Being
part of a different organisation in my private life as a volunteer
helps me learn from others, seeking out new ways of doing things
and keeping grounded in the reality of the importance of the daily
work that everyone in Cartrefi does.
The song by the way is by Si Kahn and I recommend it!
Our trustees are responsible for ensuring that Cartrefi Cymru
does what it was set up to do in an effective and ethical
way. If you would like more information about becoming a
Trustee, please email contacttheceo@cartrefi.org for
an informal discussion.
